We have an impressive heritage and are committed to providing our clients with the close, personal relationships they deserve and offering casting professionals the best range of talent. We have an affiliation with agents and management companies in Los Angeles to ensure our clients gain maximum exposure to the US market and global opportunities as their career progresses.
John Markham - Company Director:
Trained at E 15 Acting School in London and was then awarded a scholarship from Granada Television to pursue a one year Post Diploma Course offered jointly by Manchester University and Manchester Polytechnic. For the next twenty years I worked as an actor, director and theatre practitioner.
As an actor I enjoyed seasons at many of the country’s leading theatres, and took part in ‘Number One Tours’, and plays and performances in London’s West End. I toured throughout Europe , America and Canada and moved slowly from theatre into film and television including a stint as a regular in the soap “Brookside”.
During this time I also directed several shows, and won an award for a production I directed starring a rather young Gary Oldman in one of his first jobs.
After 20 years as an actor I felt the need to eat on a more regular basis and rather than move into an area I knew nothing about I decided to utilise my knowledge and skills by capitalising on my theatrical experience and my extensive contacts by becoming an agent. I became the world’s oldest apprentice with an established agency and remained with them for two years before setting up my first agency John Markham Associates. 7 years later I formed Markham And Marsden and 6 years ago formed ‘The Markham Agency’. We are a flourishing boutique style agency with a specialist musical division, and a ‘commercials’ department. We look after an impressive list of both established and young emergent talent and have an envious reputation amongst our peers.
